Mr. Zhang Xueyong, Club’s Vice Chairman, Appointed as a Member of the Manitoba Immigration and Settlement Advisory Committee

On July 13, 2023, the Honourable Jon Reyes, Minister of Labour and Immigration for the Province of Manitoba, announced the establishment of the “Manitoba Economic Immigration and Settlement Advisory Committee” (hereinafter referred to as the “Committee”). Mr. Zhang Xueyong, Vice Chairman of the Canadian Immigration Consultants Club, was appointed as a member of the Advisory Committee.
The announcement was made during a press conference hosted by the provincial government at Winnipeg International Airport. Mr. Zhang, along with several other appointees, was also invited.

The primary objective of the Committee is to provide guidance and recommendations for Manitoba’s Provincial Nominee Program, with the aim of enhancing immigration settlement efforts and making the program more competitive and attractive. The ultimate goal is to actively attract global tech talent and entrepreneurial investors, fostering the socio-economic development of the province. Comprising 16 distinguished representatives from various communities and industries, the Committee brings together a diverse range of expertise. Notably, Mr. Zhang Xueyong is the only senior licensed immigration consultant and representative of the Chinese community within the Committee.
Mr. Zhang Xueyong’s appointment reflects the pivotal role played by immigration consultants in the realm of immigration and settlement. As a member of the Advisory Committee, he will collaborate closely with government officials, community representatives, and industry experts. Through the provision of professional insights on immigration policies, procedures, and regulations, he will ensure that the interests and needs of all stakeholders are well-aligned, and that positive impacts are made towards addressing immigration and settlement-related challenges.
