HIRING – Board Member


Opportunity
We are a Non-profit Immigration Club, looking to appoint committed Board Members to serve on our organization’s governing body and be responsible for advising on strategic plans, participating in evaluations, and monitoring the organization’s financial affairs, along with, preparing for board meetings, attending them regularly, actively participating in them and be enthusiastic and passionate in helping other members.


Responsibilities
• Knowing the organization’s mission, programs, policies, and needs
• Preparing for meetings by reviewing the agenda and supporting documentation
• Regularly attending board meetings and participating actively and conscientiously
• Keeping up with trends, policy changes etc., of the CICC and Canadian Immigration News
• Keeping your RCIC status updated
• Participating in the evaluation of business operations and executives
• Approving audit reports, budgets, and business decisions
• Contributing to the development of policies and strategic plans
• Understanding the organization’s financial affairs and ensuring fiduciary responsibilities are met
• Ensuring the organization complies with legal requirements
• Maintaining confidentiality on all internal organizational affairs


About You
• Should have extensive professional experience with significant executive leadership accomplishments, particularly, in the nonprofit sector
• An RCIC with 5+ years of experience will be preferred
• Should have a good standing with the CICC
• Should have ample knowledge regarding the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and the Citizenship Act
• Should have savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals
• Should have the personal qualities of integrity and credibility
